This was my first album that I put together in 2006. It was inspired by hearing artists like four tet, tortoise, brian eno, animal collective, and caribou. I made the album mostly by taking samples from all over the place, cutting them up, editing them into infinity and back, sometimes simply just pairing them up in new ways, and often filling in the gaps playing instruments by hand. My goal was to blur the line between what was being electronically produced, and what was being organically played, because I feel like too many people have assumptions about what either approach is capable of sounding like. I think I did a decent job, although this was my first serious attempt at producing music on my own without the aid of a band or writing partners.
