Young Black Bear with Tags in Ears

He has been visiting our trash cans often…and I he’s returned this summer after not seeing him almost all winter. These pics are from last summer when he was in my driveway eating raw sabrett hot dogs with a sort of blissful  glint in its eyes. He seemed ackyaall too trusting of me, which isn’t uncommon for me…I have always had a certain lucky way with animals…but unfortunately I think it is just a case a habituation/desensitization of the black bear population as our townhouse communities and strip malls replace the woods these bears have lived in since before white people even showed up on the continent…the mountain behind my house used to be covered in a slew of conifers and hardwoods, and was a truly magically pl,ace to grow up exploring and hiking through, but it was more importantly a habitat wherein the black bear population used to exist…this habitat is now a golf course. The second golf course in my small town…gross. But that’s why these bears are in our yards and garbages so often. We displaced them and now they found the easiest ways to survive…live off our garbage. Tree Bottom Feeders!
